I love planning projects, spending way too much time picking colors and agonizing over small decisions, but this project was an impulsive decision. The time from inspiration to the last coat of paint was about three hours! I was inspired by Suburban*Pop’s colorful screen door. As soon as I saw it I wanted to add a pop of color to our patio.
I couldn’t decide between an orangey color or yellow, but I went with the same yellow we used on our front door – Chickadee by Valspar. It didn’t take as much paint as I expected. I bought a gallon, but only used about 1/4 of it.
We still need to put the screens back on, but I am going to wait a while to make sure the paint is completely dry. Luckily I remembered to follow my own advice after making the mistake of applying thick coats on the front door and applied thin coats. After just a day it’s dry (we had to wait a loooong time for the front door to be ready to hang).
